On 2nd and 3rd March 2010 Epney was host to one of the most exciting events in the Gloucestershire county calendar. Surf, canoe and paraglide enthusiasts from around the world expertly navigated the wave, famously named the Severn Bore, as it roared up the River Severn carrying with it none other than our very own Severn Bore Team from Manor Farm!
Alexander, Ben and Mark waited with bated breath in the freezing temperatures of the Severn at 8am. As the Bore surged round the river bend at the Anchor Inn they paddled for their lives and launched themselves onto the wave, which reached nearly 2 metres high in places.
After surfing for as long as 2 miles the boys enjoyed a lift back up the river to catch the bore again before returning to Manor Farm for a well earned cooked breakfast!
This wonderful force of nature, caused by the full moon's ferocious tidal pull from the Atlantic Ocean, through the Bristol Channel and up the bottle neck of the River Severn, was one of the most impressive in recent years.
