Richard found this beautiful little duckling struggling in the cold on its own, upside down in the nesting box. Limp, weak and lifeless this gorgeous fluffy bundle would have surely died had it not been rescued to the farmhouse kitchen at Manor Farm!
One week on, this is how the duckling looks now, the tiny hard white lump on the end of its beak (which ducklings are born with to help them break out of their egg shells), is reducing by the day as it grows and develops its strength.
It has a morning, afternoon and evening swim every day, ducking and diving to find its food before hopping out to its favourite place by the aga to dry out and have a little sleep. Never one to be left out however, it regularly likes to nestle on Richard or Mary's knee by the fire in the evenings to watch television too.
Within another week or two we hope it will be strong enough to take on the big wide world on the pond again, rest assured we'll let you know when we think its ready to take the plunge!
